PRIYANKA CHOPRA KI BOOK KON PADH THA HAI ! Review of Unfinished: A Memoir

PRIYANKA CHOPRA KI BOOK PADH THA HAI!? .This was my mum's first reaction when I got this book from the bookstore.

Unfinished: A memoir is an autobiography of the famous actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas. After the initial release in February, it has been a major hit. The author considers her journey still unfinished in the world and it is the reason to be named as the title of her book.

AUTHOR: Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

PAGE COUNT:244.

GENRE: Auto-Biography.

RATING:4/5.

But trust me it worth reading not only once but twice.

I read this book in pre and post covid times of my isolation period. After reading this book I gathered is she is a girl just like us even though she has the multifaced personality of being an actor, singer, producer, and a beauty pageant winner. The person who is wearing so many feathers in her hat is just a girl like us and no different in any sort of way. She has been through all the restrictions cinderella curfew, beauty stereotypes, Criticism, and Societal norms just as any next-door Indian girl. This book reminds me of this line from a play.

YOU HAVE MISTOOK ME ALL THIS WHILE

I LIVE WITH BREAD LIKE YOU

FEEL AND WANT TASTE GRIEF

NEED FRIENDS

SUBJECTED THUS

HOW CAN YOU SAY

I'M KING.

We tend to forget that at the end of the world these celebrities are humans just like us and this book is a gentle reminder of that

The book starts with her early childhood as an army kid raised in different parts of northern Indian. She describes her adventurous childhood traveling in different parts of India and changing schools as an early bliss. She also describes her being a bully victim as a high school student in America. Bully is one the most serious problems faced by immigrant students in Foreign countries.

One of the most interesting parts of the book is her reaction to criticism all over the years( a practically wrong answer in miss world finals, about her nose plastic surgery, her initial criticism as a newcomer in Bollywood these were the common topics she was mostly criticized by daily tabloids)

All she suggests is to be confident no matter what happens don't break the pillar of self-confidence which stands inside you. She further adds her part of the story to explain it even though her answer Mother Terressa was practically wrong to miss world final question: who is the most successful women in the world as the question was framed in present tense and mother Terresa will not be practically an answer because she isn't alive. Priyanka further explains it made her Confidence which made her win despite the practically wrong answer and all stereotypical beauty standards. She even exclaimed that she even faces these beauty stereotypes till now. But it never let her degrade her self-image and confidence. One of my most favorite parts of the stories in her book is the stays in aunts and uncles' house within Joint Family. It is the most nostalgic part of childhood especially for those who are part of Joint families.

In the mid part of the book, she describes her pageant journey which started accidentally but she considers it as a blessing now. The last part of her autobiography ends with her journey in Bollywood, and her first works in Hollywood, her depression journey,  after her father's tragic demise due to cancer, and her marriage with Nick Jonas a famous singer and songwriter, and her collaboration with UNICEF as Goodwill Ambassador which also represents her oath to help under-privilege children during her pageant journey beauty with purpose.

Overall is a great read for auto-biography and real-life stories enthusiasts.
