Book Review of The Mystery of IIM

At some point at school or college, we have chewed the ears of our seniors by asking them numerous questions about college, career, and life advice. And I believe that the author got his ears to chew by so many juniors that he decided to write a book on his B-school experience and some suggestions, rules to excel. This book is about stories, advice, lessons in a nutshell. The book ends with some important frameworks and jargon like PESTLE  analysis and BCG Matrix etc.

AUTHOR: Gaurav Bohra.

PAGE COUNT: 51.

Price: 119 INR.

GENRE: Non-Fiction.

RATING:4.5/5.

The first chapter “bell the cat” starts with the author’s CAT preparation and journey into IIM. The Later chapters deal with the author's life at IIM. A major part of this book I found interesting was that it provides a glimpse at the reality of life at IIM, since most people only think of the fictional novel and the movie of Chetan Bhagat's “2 states”, when in fact the reality is very different. The book covers 24 rules or mantras you can follow to make the best of your B-school life. These mantras are not only suggestions for academics but are also about Job and Life Skills.

Sneek-peak into the book:

In one of the chapters author mentions competitions as a B-school student, you are going to have numerous competitions which are especially group and case study competitions. The author suggests "look for passionate people instead of smart people".The author himself is a winner of competitions like Engima+, Heto Moto Cup he adds that we usually tend to form a team with our close friends or team up with class topper and he himself had done the same but clearly that won't help as its a group competition until unless your team members aren't passionate to participate or win it will be difficult.

Life at IIM is about deadlines, quizzes, sleepless nights, new surprises and shocks are always around the corner, as well as College Clubs, and a really fun time with friends.
